CPP unlikely to field presidential candidate for 2024 elections – Director of Communications

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) is unlikely to field a presidential candidate for the 2024 general election, according to Sylvester Sarpong-Soprano, Director of Communications for the party.

In an interview with Asaase Radio in Accra, Mr. Sarpong-Soprano attributed the situation to ongoing internal disagreements and numerous court cases that have hindered the party’s ability to organize itself effectively.

Unless there is a significant change soon, the CPP will struggle to prepare adequately for the upcoming elections, he stressed.

“I am not sure we can present a candidate for the 2024 elections due to the persistent internal conflicts and court cases challenging the chairman and leader,” he noted.

With less than six months to the December elections, political parties and movements are intensifying their campaigns to secure victory.
