Ejisu By-Election: A Vote For Owusu Aduomi Is A Vote For NDC – Bawumia To Residents

Ejisu By-Election: A Vote For Owusu Aduomi Is A Vote For NDC – Bawumia To Residents

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has cautioned the people of the Ashanti Region’s Ejisu Constituency to cast their votes for lawyer Kwabena Boateng, the party’s parliamentary candidate, rather than for Kofi Owusu Aduomi, a former MP running as an independent.

The Vice President claims that Kwabena Owusu Aduomi will join the NDC in Parliament to boost their numbers if the constituents choose him.

Dr. Bawumia clarified that the NDC did not submit a candidate for the election since it is supporting the former MP who is running as an independent.

But prior to the by-election on Tuesday, Vice President Dr. Bawumia addressed a small Durbar in Fumasa and informed the residents that “When you go to Parliament now, the NPP has 138 members including the Fomena Independent Candidate, while the NDC also has 137 members, so the NDC want to increase their number in Parliament that’s why they didn’t present a candidate instead decided to support the former NPP MP to contest as an Independent candidate”.

He added, “If you mistakenly vote for the Independent candidate. He will join the NDC in Parliament and they will be more than us to sabotage the Government business”.

He urged the populace to support the Akufo-Addo administration because it is the only party that has been actively improving the Constituency: the NPP.

“Am appealing to you (Constituents and NPP Members) to vote for our candidate, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, because he is the one we know and can come to us to seek projects to continue what Late John Ampontuah Kumah started”.

Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, a former member of parliament for Ejisu from the NPP, is running as an independent parliamentary candidate in the by-election among five other candidates.

The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that six aspirants have been cleared to contest in the upcoming Ejisu by-election scheduled for Tuesday, April 30.
