Ejisu by-election: Aduomi rejects NDC affiliation; tells NPP to get its house in order

Independent candidate Kwabena Owusu Aduomi has denied claims he has switched allegiance to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the Ejisu by-election.

Aduomi, a former Member of Parliament, told reporters that his past work in the constituency has earned him support from NDC members, but he remains unaffiliated with the party.

“I’m not an NDC member,” Aduomi emphasized. “The NDC people like me because of the work I did that benefited them. Where have they seen me wearing NDC colors?”

Aduomi also pushed back against accusations of betraying the New Patriotic Party (NPP), saying the party should address internal issues rather than labeling him a traitor.

Meanwhile, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate, urged constituents to prioritize continuity and progress by voting for the party’s candidate, Kwabena Boateng. Bawumia warned against diverting votes to independent candidates, which he said could inadvertently benefit the NDC and its leader, John Mahama.

The NPP holds a slim majority in parliament, with 138 seats against the NDC’s 137, making every vote crucial in securing a stronger mandate for the ruling party.

The Ejisu by-election is set for April 30.
