Herbert Krapa appointed new Board Chairman of ECG

The Deputy Minister of Energy, Herbert Krapa, has been named by President Akufo-Addo as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

In a letter to President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Keli Gadzekpo, who had served as the company’s chair since 2017, announced his resignation from the position. That being said, his resignation will become effective on Tuesday, April 9, 2024.

Mr. Krapa, a lawyer, will continue to serve as the Energy Deputy Minister. The President is resolved to resolve the intermittent power outages the nation is facing as soon as possible. His nomination, which was made in a letter to his minister, Dr. Matthew Prempeh, MP, comes at a time when this issue is occurring.

Krapa is anticipated to head the board and provide guidance to the struggling ECG Managing Director and his staff in addition to ensuring effective agency cooperation in the power industry to guarantee Ghanaian consumers a steady supply of electricity.
