I’m working on a 200-page memoir to correct political distortions – Kwesi Pratt

Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr., has disclosed that he is working on a 200-page memoir.

Mr. Pratt said the book will cover events leading to the turning point of Ghana from military to democratic rule.

“I’m very close to finishing. I’m trying to do a 200-page book. Not so a big book. A 200-page book,” he said on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

“Not covering all of my life. A 200-page book which starts from 1990 and ends in 1992,” the seasoned journalist added.

Mr. Pratt, who recently turned 70 years old said the book will highlight how he met Prof. Adu-Boahen and the formation of the Movement for Freedom and Justice to where the ban on political party activities was lifted.

According to him, he arrived at the decision to focus his memoir on the formative years of Ghana’s democracy due to the “many distortions” characterizing that period.

“For example, If you listen to some people, the narration is that Prof. Adu Boahen broke the culture of silence and he founded the Movement for Freedom and Justice. That narration is wrong,” he noted.

“It is completely wrong. It has no basis and so on,” he emphasized.

Kwesi Pratt stated that but for his busy schedule, the memoir would have been ready but he will burn the midnight oil and publish it.

The seasoned journalist also indicated that he will subsequently publish other books.
