Leslie Mensah Tamakloe supports Volta Region NDC with funds to transport eligible voters

Leslie Mensah Tamakloe, a leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and founder of InternetGhana Company Limited, has donated an amount of GH₵205,000 to the local branch of the party in a move to boost voter registration in the Volta Region.

Since most newly eligible voters may not be able to afford the expense of transportation, the monies are intended to help transport them to the Electoral Commission’s district offices for the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.

Mr. Leslie Tamakloe stated in a letter to the Volta Regional Chairman of the NDC available to Metro News the necessity of the financial support.

“In respect of our quest as a democratic party to wrestle power from the NPP, it becomes essential to fully ensure that all primary electoral activities are monitored successfully,” he said.

“With the commencement of the limited voter registration and its inconvenience of having the EC district offices as central points, it is required of us to ensure a sufficient input of financial resources to facilitate the mobilization of our people to be registered.”

According to him, “Each constituency benefits GH₵10,000 with the exception of the Hohoe constituency which benefits GH₵15,000 due to its orphan state. The regional executive committee receives GH₵20,000 to enable it monitor the registration process across the region.”

The limited voter registration exercise commenced on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

It is aimed at registering eligible Ghanaians who have attained the voting age or above but whose names are not captured in the voter register.

The exercise will end on October 2, 2023.
