NDC demands cancellation of SML agreement, prosecution of officials involved

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on the government to terminate all agreements with Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) and retrieve all monies paid to the company as part of the deal between it and Ghana Revenue Authority.

At a press conference on Monday, April 29, 2024, addressed by the party’s National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, the NDC demanded full publication of the KPMG report involving SML and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), which was commissioned by the government.

“The government paid for the audit, so it must be made public by publishing it,”

“We demand transparency and accountability in this deal, which has caused financial loss to the state,” he noted

The NDC also called for the arrest and prosecution of all officials involved in the SML-GRA deal, which they described as “illegal” and “fraudulent”. The party warned that any attempts to cover up the deal will be met with fierce resistance and that a future NDC government will not recognize the agreement.

“We will launch a thorough investigation into this deal and prosecute all those who are complicit,” Mr. Gyamfi vowed.

“The government must come clean on this deal and hold accountable all those who have caused financial loss to the state.”

“We will not allow this deal to be swept under the carpet, We will fight for the truth and for justice to be served,” the National Communication Officer of the NDC stressed.
