NDC Professionals Forum congratulates Gyakye Quayson on his Assin North by-election victory

The NDC Professionals Forum (PROFORUM), has congratulated Mr. James Gyakye Quayson on his resounding victory in the Assin North by-election on Tuesday, June 27, 2023.

“This victory was achieved despite the numerous daunting challenges encountered,” the PROFORUM said in a statement on Thursday, June 29.

The Forum also commended former President John Dramani Mahama and the rank and file of the NDC for their hard work and commitment to serving the party which resulted in the victory.

“We also wish to thank our flag bearer H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and 2020 running mate Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, the leadership of the National Democratic Congress at the National, Regional, Constituency and Branch levels as well as all members of NDC from all corners of the country who pitched camp in the constituency to ensure total victory.”

The release signed by the National President, Sam Pee Yalley, extended its appreciation to the Minority in Parliament led by Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson for their relentless efforts.

“Our most sincere thanks go to the discerning good people of Assin North who defied all odds, spoke loud and clear in defense of “Justice and development” for a good work done,” the statement added.

According to PROFORUM, the emphatic statement made by “the good people of Assin North in the face of financial inducements, security threats and flapant abuse of incumbent is an indicator that this country can be rescued from misleadership.”

Again, the PROFORUM also extended appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, Mr. George Akuffo Dampare for the professionalism exhibited by his officers deployed and the Electoral Commission for its effectiveness on this particular occasion.

“This is the Ghana we want to build,” the statement concluded.

After Tuesday’s Assin North by-election, Mr. Quayson polled 17,245 votes representing 57.56 percent of the total valid votes cast to cling onto power .

His closest competitor, Charles Opoku polled 12,630 votes representing 42.15 percent of the total votes cast while LPG’s Bernice Enyonam Sefenu polled 87 votes representing 0.29%.

Mr. Quayson was officially declared the winner of the elections by the Electoral Commission.
