In the build-up to the NPP primaries in New Juaben North Constituency, a disturbing incident has unfolded as persons close to the camp of Nana Osei-Agyei (Djoe), an aspiring candidate have allegedly assaulted a security officer affiliated with Seth Kwame Acheampong, also a contender in the race.
The security officer was allegedly attacked after he attempted to thwart a ritual being performed by a malaam allegedly on behalf of Djoe at the voting centre
Details of the attack remains scanty. However, the officer has sustained multiple injuries.
The injured officer, whose name is yet to be given is currently receiving treatment at the Koforidua Central Hospital.
This incident has raised tensions in the constituency, creating an unsettling atmosphere.
Five candidates are vying to lead the NPP in the New Juaben North Constituency for the 2024 parliamentary elections.
