The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has sternly warned the aspirants contesting for  parliamentary seats across the country not to camp the delegates.

NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong issued a warning to candidates who camp or transport delegates, threatening to withhold their candidacies. He revealed this on Monday, January 22, following the announcement of a set of rules in advance of the parliamentary primaries on January 27.

Moreover, the party is under pressure to resolve any pending petitions that some irate party members have filed on various issues pertaining to the primaries.

Speaking to journalists in Kumasi, Mr. Frimpong Kodua also advised delegates not to show their ballots or take pictures of them using their phones after casting their votes.

The party also said that the Nhyiaeso Constituency will hold elections after a polling station executive from the constituency withdrew her lawsuit against the party.

“The party has formulated these rules and regulations to ensure free and fair elections and we believe that everyone should be allowed to feel free to walk to the polling centre to cast their votes. It is of this belief that we have made the statement that no one should camp delegates at any place.

“Those who take pictures of their votes, aside from nullifying your votes, it is an offence and you would be handed over to the Police.”
