NPP’s Tabitha Ayillah slams Ablakwa’s priorities on SSNIT Funds ‘mismanagement’

Tabitha Ayillah, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s communications team, has taken a swipe at Okudzeto Ablakwa’s focus on Bryan Acheampong’s involvement in the hotel purchase, urging him to prioritize the alleged mismanagement of SSNIT funds instead.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Monday, Ayillah emphasized that the real concern should be the investments made by SSNIT which have yielded no profits.

“People who are in charge of state properties need to sit up,” Ayillah stressed. “We should be worried about the amount of money SSNIT has invested without any returns, rather than targeting Bryan Acheampong’s involvement.”

Ayillah questioned why the focus was on Acheampong’s purchase of the hotels instead of the fact that SSNIT had sunk approximately $200 million of taxpayers’ money into the hotels without any returns.

She expressed surprise that no one was celebrating the fact that a Ghanaian company was interested in buying the hotels, rather than a foreign entity.

“Why are we not talking about that? Why are we not even happy that it is a Ghanaian company and not a foreign company that seeks to buy SSNIT hotels?” Ayillah asked rhetorically.

Her comments come after Ablakwa had raised concerns about Acheampong’s involvement in the hotel purchase, which Ayillah believes is a misplaced priority.
