Offinso North DCE passes on

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Offinso North in the Ashanti Region has passed on.

Mr. David Kwasi Asare Boakye, affectionately called “Adwuma Wura” died at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital on Monday, November 7, 2022.

The cause of his death is unknown as of the time of filing this report. However, according to a close source, he’s been unwell for some time now.

“He has been sick for more than two weeks, and we sent a delegation to visit him at Akumadan,” the dean of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region, Alex Frimpong told Asaase Radio.

“He was sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital and we sent another delegation to visit him.”

“Unfortunately, just when we thought he was recovering, this morning we woke up and news broke that he has passed on, we have confirmed from the wife,” he added.

In 2021, the Offinso North District Chief Executive commended the District Health Directorate for their remarkable performance in the past years especially in the fight against the novel Coronavirus despite limited resources.

Speaking at the District Performance Review meeting held at Nkenkaasu, Mr. Asare Boakye indicated that he is impressed with the detailed presentations from the 8 health facilities across the Offinso North District in areas of OPD, malaria cases, mortality rate, and general well-being of people.

He noted challenges facing some health facilities and revealed that the District has recorded about 80 positive cases with 78 recoveries and 2 deaths while awaiting test results of some 14 samples taken to the lab.

Mr. Kwesi Asare Boakye reiterated that the District COVID-19 Rapid Response Team has intensified campaigns to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and also distributing thousands of free nose masks and hand sanitizers to the residents.
