Okyenhene launches One Student, One Tree project

The Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, has launched the One Student, One Tree project as part of the 2024 Green Ghana Project and his 25th-anniversary celebration as Okyenhene.

The project, which begins on June 7, targets all Ghanaian students, especially those in senior high schools. Each student is expected to plant and nurture a tree.

The Okyenhene also launched the One Million Seedling project, aimed at planting one million seedlings within the Akyem Abuakwa State. This project is a personal initiative of the Okyenhene, with support from the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.

Speaking at the launch, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin emphasized the importance of conservation and the need to protect the environment.

He tasked students and youth to be guardians of the forest and learn about the importance of conservation.

The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr. Samuel Abu Jinapor, commended the Okyenhene for his conservationist ideology and bold decision to champion environmental conservation over the last 25 years.

This year’s Green Ghana Day is themed “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow”. Heads of second-cycle institutions have been urged to cooperate with the planning committee to make the event successful.
