One more die in Ngleshie Amanfro storey building collapse

One more victim of the Ngleshie Amanfro building collapse has died taking the death toll to 2.

The deceased, identified as a midwife at the facility died a couple of hours after the disaster whilst on admission at the Kasoa Polyclinic on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, July 4, a storey building belonging to a private health facility at Assemblies, a suburb of Ngleshie Amanfro in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region collapsed.

It instantly killed Hanna Lomotey, the owner of the facility on the spot.

Also, three other persons comprising a set of twins and another nurse are currently on admission at the Winneba Hospital.

Eyewitnesses say the building which is an extension of the health facility and under construction collapsed during a downpour on Tuesday afternoon.

The Kasoa Municipal Fire Command which provided rescue services says they have begun investigations into the collapse, however, preliminary observations have suggested poor materials and construction as a cause of the collapse.

“Several factors could have led to the collapse of the building,” adding: “The area itself looks like a waterlog land and, so, I am sure it is one of the factors,” DO3 Mercel Kwami Avadu told the media.

Meanwhile, the private health facility has since been shut down as relevant agencies commence investigations into the occurrence.
