One robber dead, others on the run with gunshots

An armed robber has died and others are said to be on the run after a gun battle with personnel of the Ghana Police Service at Bole in the Bole Bamboi District of the Savannah Region.

The dead who is believed to be a Fulani man was found in a pool of blood at a nearby bush and rushed to the Leyaata Hospital where he was confirmed dead with bullet wounds.

His accomplices are said to be on the run with gunshots.

According to the Ghana Police Service in the Bole Bamboi District, they were informed of a robbery attack on the Teselima-Banda Nkwanta stretch of the Bole-Bamboi Highway around 8 pm.

A team of police personnel of the Banda Nkwanta FPU Base, led by Inspector Carl Agyemang Acheampong were deployed to the area and met six armed robbers attacking a Benz Bus with registration no. UW 7009 Y driven by one Ben Jethro.

On reaching the scene, the hoodlums opened fire on the personnel after discovering their identities.

The police also retaliated but the armed men fled into the bush.

The police found the man wounded when they visited the scene around 6 am on March 17th.

They discovered one pump action gun, 47 live BB ammunition, and two empty cartridges with him.

He was rushed to the Leyaata Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The corpse has been deposited at the Mortuary awaiting autopsy.
