Over 300 teachers in Suhum Municipality trained on first aid care

The Eastern Regional Red Cross Society with funding from Mr. Samuel Miah, a philanthropist, has trained over 300 basic School teachers in the Suhum Municipality of the Eastern region on First Aid Care to support students in case of accident during school hours to mitigate escalation of cases before getting to a treatment facility.

First Aid, the emergency care or support provided to an injured person to maximize intensity of situations before any full medical treatment is administered, should not have been a reserve for some particular group of person’s since emergencies are unexpected and irrespective of location.

It was against this background that Mr. Samuel Miah, deemed it vital and took it upon himself to fund training of teachers to get fair knowledge on how to give professional care to pupils in times of emergencies in order to reduce worsening of cases which some unfortunately ends up in partial, total disabilities or deaths due to less emergency knowledge on care.

Sharing their gratitude with the media on the helpful impact of the training, the teachers also advocate that First Aid is infused in their curriculum since pupils are often injured on daily basis during school hours..

Meanwhile, the Eastern Regional manager, Ghana Red Cross Society, Mr. Theophilus Takyie mentioned lack of funds and logistics as major challenge facing outreach education programs of the society.

He pleaded with the media to give opportunities on their platforms to be used in reaching out to the masses.
