Overlord of Wala State addresses gruesome murders in Wa Municipality

In response to the recent tragic murders of two residents in the Wa Municipality, the Overlord of the Wala State, Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, has issued a statement addressing the community’s concerns and outlining immediate measures to prevent further violence.

In his address, the Overlord expressed deep sorrow over the loss, noting the repeated disturbance of peace and tranquility in the area.

He emphasized that the responsibility for these murders lies not only with the state security apparatus but also with the traditional authorities and the residents themselves.

“This has happened before and we raised red flags everywhere, but soon forgot of it and let down our guard,” the Overlord stated.

He called the situation a “systemic failure” and stressed that the effectiveness of the State Security apparatus hinges on the community’s willingness to provide relevant information.

Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV pointed out that the perpetrators live among the residents and urged the community to stop shielding these criminals.

“The fact is, for inexplicable reasons, we shield them,” he lamented.

Following an emergency meeting between the Traditional Council and the Regional Security Committee (REGSEC), several immediate measures were decided upon, including;

1. Increased security with support from the Headquarters of the Security Services.

2. Enhanced security patrols and visibility in the Municipality.

3. Installation of lighting in dark areas of the Municipality.

4. Collaboration between security forces and neighborhood watch volunteers.

Additionally, the Traditional Council has demanded updates on previous ritual murder investigations to bolster public confidence and volunteerism.

The Police Command has agreed to provide this information.

The Overlord also highlighted the importance of cooperation between National Security and local teams familiar with the terrain.

He called on landlords and hoteliers to report suspicious activities, especially those involving guests who are active only at night, under the principle of “See Something, Say Something.”

While ensuring the public that further undisclosed measures are also being implemented, Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV urged the community to remain calm yet vigilant.

He encouraged residents to continue their daily activities without fear but with increased awareness and to support the security efforts with valuable information.

In closing, the Overlord assured the community of the commitment to restoring peace and security in the Wala State.
