Pius Hadzide will be jailed over his involvement in Australia visa scandal – Nii Lante Vanderpuye

Asuogyaman Constituency in the Eastern Region is poised to be a focal point in the upcoming parliamentary elections, with the NPP’s Pius Enam Hadzide, CEO of the National Youth Authority, challenging incumbent NDC Member of Parliament Thomas Ampem Nyarko, who is seeking a third consecutive term.

Edwin Lante Vanderpuye, Member of Parliament for Odododiodio and former Minister of Youth and Sports, has indicated that Pius Enam Hadzide, CEO of the National Youth Authority (NYA), has told voters in Asuogyaman not to vote for Pius because he will be imprisoned for his alleged involvement in the Australian visa scandal.

Campaign activities have kicked off early in Asuogyaman, with both candidates employing various strategies and messages to engage with voters.

In a recent political event at Abume community,several MPs including Emmanuel Bedzrah, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, Gabby Hottordzi, Geoffrey Kini, Charles Agbeve, and Samuel Okudzato Ablakwa as well as some Executives of the party unanimously urged the electorate to reject Pius Enam Hadzide and retain Thomas Ampem Nyarko whom they described as hardworking and respectful therefore marked for appointment in next Mahama government.

During a mini rally, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, went further to warn that Hadzide could face legal consequences, hinting at his alleged involvement in the Australian visa scandal.

Vanderpuye indicated that Pius Enam Hadzide will become first former appointee under NPP to be prosecuted if the NDC regains power in 2025 .

The MPs joined Thomas Ampem Nyarko to cut sod for construction of a public toilet facility to end troubling open defecation menace in the community.They also supported a community-initiated clinic project.

The event also saw five youth including a physically challenged from the Abume fishing community enrolled into “Thomas Ampem Nyarko Skills Development and Youth Empowerment Programme” to learn driving and dressmaking.

Asuogyaman constituents are gearing up for a closely watched election, with both candidates vying to win over voters with their respective visions and promises.

Pius Enam Hadzide whose first attempt to go to Parliament at Ketu North failed, is also facing criticism for allegedly resorting to divisive tribal tactics targeting Ewe communities to undermine Thomas Ampem Nyarko’s candidacy.
