Pokuase project: Akufo-Addo’s gov’t can’t complete it — Timothy Awotiirim

Former Member of Parliament for Builsa North Constituency, Timothy Awotiirim Ataboadey, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the government’s National Affordable Housing project, stating that its completion hangs in the balance.

He also bemoaned the culture of successive governments abandoning uncomplete projects they inherit from the previous governments.

Mr. Timothy pointed out on Original TV’s Adwene Pa that any policy by a government that is targeted at the provision of houses is welcomed, however, the top priority of any government should be providing food, shelter, and security.

He went on to cast doubt about the completion of the project, arguing that the Akufo-Addo government is synonymous with paying lip services.

The former Builsa North MP dragged ex-President Kufuor into the conversation alleging that his tenure as president saw the country venture into affordable housing but before its completion, all the houses were shared among party members.

Timothy Awotiirim Ataboadey further advised the government to halt the habit of abandoning uncompleted projects started by the previous government for the betterment of Ghanaians.

“Anytime there is a change of government projects started by the past government must be allowed to continue for the betterment of the people,” he advised.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, cut sod for the construction of the Pokuase Housing project, the first initiative under the government’s new National Affordable Housing Programme (NAHP).

Through a strategic partnership with the private sector, the Pokuase project aims at providing 8,000 housing units to cater for the housing needs of Ghanaians, especially low-to-medium income earners.

By leveraging the expertise and efficiency of the private sector, the project would significantly reduce the financial burden on the government while ensuring high-quality and cost-effective housing solutions for Ghanaians
