The Savannah Regional Minister Saeed Muhazu Jibril has charged the newly sworn-in assembly members of the West Gonja Municipality in the Savannah Region to pool resources together for the development of the municipality.

According to him, this is the only way to provide the much-needed development desired in the municipality.

Saeed Muhazu Jibril said this during the inauguration of the 9th assembly of the West Gonja Municipality in accordance with Article 35 Clause 6 (E) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana at Damongo on Monday.

Addressing the assembly members, Saeed Muhazu charges them to extend their outreach to the citizens at the lowest levels to deepen the decentralization process.

Muhazu also underscores the need for the newly sworn-in members to assist in the revenue mobilization to enhance growth at the assembly.

In his remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive of the West Gonja Municipality Musah Kusubari indicates the assembly is doing all its best to promote the inclusion and active participation of females in decision-making processes at the assembly.

Mumuni Mohammed was given a resounding 100 percent victory after he went unopposed to contest as the presiding member of the house.

In a speech, the presiding member Mumuni Mohammed vows to maintain decorum at the municipal assembly to ensure the smooth running of affairs.

Lawyer Virginia Gloria Akpene Fugar from the office of the attorney general, Tamale administered the oaths of allegiance, secrecy, and office to the seventeen honorable members.

The August House then formed six mandatory and two ad hoc subcommittees bordering on health, sanitation, and small and medium enterprises SMEs to deliberate on issues.

Without much left on the table, the sitting was adjourned to allow the new members have an orientation to carry on with the tasks ahead of them.
