Former President John Dramani Mahama, and his wife Lordina Mahama have sent their condolences to the Ayittey family over the death of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart, Sherry Hanni Ayittey.
During the Mahama administration, Sherry Ayittey held the positions of Minister for Health and later Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.
She passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
In a Facebook post on Sunday, July 23, Mr. Mahama paid tribute to the late Madam Ayittey and called her passing shocking and a loss for everyone.
He described her demise as a “shocking loss”.
“Lordina and I have learnt with great grief the passing of Madam Sherry Ayittey who served as my Minister for Health and later as Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.”
‘Aunty’ Sherry was an active stalwart of our great party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and served as Vice Chair of the party. She was also one of the key leaders of the 31st December Women’s Movement.”
