SSNIT hotels sale: Selection of Rock City was clean – Board Chair

Chair of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Board of Trustees, Elizabeth Akua Ohene, has finally spoken out on the controversy surrounding the divestment of SSNIT’s 60 percent stake in six hotels.

In an article titled “Coming out of the hotels”, Madam Ohene addressed the allegations of corruption, abuse of power, and lack of transparency leveled by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

Elizabeth Ohene assured that the selection process of the preferred bidder, Rock City Limited, was “clean, above board, and met every rule and regulation” and welcomed scrutiny from investigative agencies.

She clarified that the decision to divest was taken in 2018 and the Board only executed it, emphasizing that the President and government were not involved in the process.

Madam Akua Ohene expressed bafflement at the suggestion of secrecy and government interference, citing public advertisements and statements by SSNIT executives.

She reiterated her commitment to transparency and accountability, accepting responsibility if any irregularities are found.
