Unnecessary politicization in Parliament must stop – Adomako Kissi

Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has implored the Minority caucus to stop politicizing every project and policy in Parliament.

He stated that the main opposition NDC has developed a habit of rejecting policies and projects on no grounds.

He explained that their behavior often gets in the way of the business of the House.

He premised his argument on attempts by the Minority to reject the Akufo-Addo’s ministerial appointees which were vacant. To Adomako Kissi, the approval were necessary to help stabilize the current economy.

“Many at times, it is rather been the president does not listen. But, I also think that the opposition ought to listen. In the sense that the opposition knew very well that this country cannot do without an Agric Ministry. This country cannot do well without a Trade Ministry. And more importantly, now that we are financially sick, we need more hands on the Finance Ministry to support and to get us out of this conundrum.”

He indicated that the Minority ought to embrace and offer unwavering support for ideas in Parliament and not refute it, suggesting that in some cases, they can object to some decisions on tangible grounds.

“I was even of the opinion that the opposition would have come and said that ‘listen let’s be truthful with Ghanaians, these three key roles which are literally replacements..we will leave the president to have his way’. But then, these other three will fight it out. I think that would have been a very safer ground.”

He accused the Minority caucus of staggering development to benefit their interest and not the country. He added that the government must be lauded where necessary.

“Many at times, unfortunately, the NDC has been like, this or nothing at all, and that approach is not helping them. And I’ll beg that if they would listen and not politicize everything, what is good in the administration, they have to at least acknowledge and accept.”

Dickson Adomako Kissi further admonished the Minority to desist the show of public nuances and rather be a listening opposition party.
