The Super Volleyball Championships, the most compelling and competitive indoor volleyball competition in Ghana, is set to be renewed once, with organizers confirming the 11th to the 17th of December, 2023, as the date for this year’s event.

This year’s event will be the 3rd edition of the games, which is gradually gaining publicity and significant attention across the volleyball ecosystem, and also has featured the very best teams in the sport domestically, such as Police, Immigration, Prisons, and others contesting for the ultimate championship.

The previous two editions have both been played in December of the last two years, with this year’s edition also set to be slated for the same month, considered a most festive period of the calendar, allowing most families and volleyball fanatics to be treated to the best of volleyball action.

This year’s Super Volleyball Championships has been confirmed will undergo quite several significant changes, most notable is the duration which has increased from 5 days to 7 days, allowing more teams to compete in the tournament and also reducing the number of games played in a day.

The competition will have eight teams [six in the previous two editions] competing for both the men’s and women’s ultimate prizes, with the latest changes including a team each from Burkina Faso and Cote D’Ivoire joining five teams from the Greater Accra Volleyball League (GAVL), with the last team set to be a ‘Surprise Team.’

Air Force Women will be defending the title in the women’s division after edging Army Women in straight sets in last year’s grand finale, whiles the men’s category will see defending champions Police aspire to make it to the finals for the third year running after winning the last edition with a straight sets victory over fiercest rivals, Air Force, the same team they lost the 2021 edition to.
