An 85-year-old woman has been butchered for Witchcraft accusations at Enyan Ankukrom in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.

Madam Abena Kyere who lives in Enyan Ankukrom was accused of being a witch by one woman called Adwoa Adensa a 55-year-old woman in the same community.

The victim’s son also made same accusations some years ago.

The victim was on Wednesday, September,28,2023 at her house unprovoked when the suspect started to butcher her till some of her family members came to rescue her.

Speaking to some of the relatives of the 85-year-old woman, they disclosed that the suspect had always threatened to kill the victim.

An official complaint has been lodged with the police.

Detailing events leading to the sad events, the relatives say the suspect returned from Accra over the weekend, and she’s since been picking fights with the victim in her house.

According to them, it is unknown the actual crime of the victim but from nowhere, the suspect started accusing her of being a leader of witchcraft.

The development has brought fear and panic to the residents of Enyan Ankukrom who say it is the first time such an incident has happened in the community.

They say they are afraid to roam in the community in the evening because the suspect might have hidden elsewhere to kill anybody in the community.

They are therefore appealing to the Inspector General Of Police, the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Police Command to launch a probe into the matter and restore calm in the community.

Meanwhile, the victim is currently at the emergency ward at the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Hospital receiving treatment.

The Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Police Command in collaboration with the Breman Nkwantanum Police Command are manhunting for the suspect who is on the run.
