ATOMEXPO Forum 2024: Pioneering a Green Nuclear Future Together

At the opening ceremony of the ATOMEXPO Forum 2024, A.E. Likhachev, Director General of Rosatom State Corporation, expressed unwavering confidence in the advancement of nuclear technologies, emphasizing that nothing can hinder the progress of Rosatom nor the development of their country.

Likhachev hailed the unprecedented participation of nations, including Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Iraq, as a testament to the global interest in nuclear energy.

Highlighting Africa’s pivotal role in nuclear technology’s evolution, Likhachev underscored the continent’s immense potential in shaping a sustainable future.

Notably, this year’s forum proudly boasts being entirely carbon-free, with all energy sources sourced from green alternatives, setting a new standard for environmental consciousness.

The forum’s theme, “clean energy: creating the future together,” resonated strongly throughout the proceedings. Likhachev stressed the importance of collaborative efforts in exploring fourth-generation nuclear technology, thermonuclear advancements, and other innovative solutions crucial for a clean energy transition.

Rafael Grossi, also in attendance, lauded the ATOMEXPO Forum as a pivotal global platform for fostering dialogue on innovative energy solutions and the future of nuclear power. Commending Rosatom’s international contributions, Grossi highlighted the corporation’s endeavors in Turkey, Egypt, and Bangladesh as exemplary milestones in nuclear technology’s global expansion.

Moreover, Grossi affirmed the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) steadfast commitment to supporting forward-looking initiatives like Rosatom’s innovative projects. Notably, he emphasized the significance of embracing future-oriented technologies, including small modular reactors and Generation 4 reactors, in the pursuit of sustainable energy solutions.

Dr. Mikhail Chudakov, echoing Grossi’s sentiments, emphasized the IAEA’s endorsement of Generation IV fast reactors as essential for achieving a closed fuel cycle and mitigating the impact of minor actinides, thereby enhancing nuclear safety and efficiency on a global scale.

As the ATOMEXPO Forum 2024 gains momentum, delegates from across the globe converge to collectively shape a cleaner, more sustainable energy landscape, underscoring the imperative of cooperation and innovation in realizing a green nuclear future.
