Winifred Ntumi advocates increased investment in weightlifting

Ghanaian weightlifter medalist Winifred Ntumi has expressed her commitment to the sport and has called on the government and stakeholders to promote and invest more in the sport.

Winifred said she has invested all her time in building herself and becoming better. She called for the support of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) and the Sports Ministry to achieve higher heights.

“I am very happy to have participated in the [13th] African Games and being the only female to win three medals for mother Ghana was the height for me,” Winifred Ntumi told Gideon Okyere Anim on original 91.9 FM.

Winifred emphasized on her love for the sport, noting that it is her fulltime job and need all the necessary support available, including frequent participations in various competitions

‘’I don’t do anything else apart from weightlifting and it’s my fulltime job and I want more support from the ministry, ’ she said.

Ghana hosted a successful African Games and won 68 medals across all competitions.
