Bawumia best candidate for NPP going into 2024 polls – David Asante Boateng

Managing Director of the Ghana Publishing Company, Mr. David Asante Boateng has tipped Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best flagbearer candidate for the New Patriotic Party going into election 2024.

According to the strong Bawumia advocate, the party cannot make any meaningful impact if it does not settle on Dr. Bawumia as its flagbearer ahead of 2024.

He is of the conviction that Dr. Bawumia’s place is already established per the results of the NPP special delegates conference election over the weekend.

Speaking during a recent radio interview,  Mr. Asante Boateng emphasized the importance of adopting a collective mindset that prioritizes party progress. With a nod to Vice President Bawumia’s strong track record, he appealed to NPP contestants to rally behind his candidacy and safeguard the party’s unity for electoral success.

“You have gone into an election and 160 people voted and in the strongest hold of the party and in the biggest region that gives the party the best of political support and endorsement you got 10  out 120 votes. If someone is close to the powers that be, they should advise them that it is in their own interest. Constitutionally, it is correct to carry the contest to the latter even if it is clear who will emerge victorious. But to what end?” Mr. Asante Boateng quizzed.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia secured 629 votes (68.15%) of the total votes cast. He was followed by Kennedy Agyapong who had 132 votes (14.30%). On the third and fourth positions were: Alan Kyerematen and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto with 95 and 36 votes respectively. Francis Addai-Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko secured 9 votes each and are headed for a run-off on September 2.
