Children in 3 communities return to school after 7 years due to lack of KG

The lack of school facilities in Dorlakofe, Kojokpo an Island, and Tankaskorfe keeps children from receiving early childhood education.

In the communities, children of school age only attend school after seven years.

Parents in these communities are concerned that their children will miss out on the academic advantages of early childhood education.

Some parents registered their displeasure and expressed their dissatisfaction.

“Our children walk for about 2 to 3 miles to school at Anyiase and because our children are so young for this stress they get sick, for this reason, we pleaded to our MP and he created a bridge in our town of which we appreciate so much,” A Parent said

Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, has established a Kindergarten school in Dorlakofe in collaboration with GES, compelled by the terrible situation, to provide early childhood education for children in the three communities.

According to him, he is going to try his best to do the little he can to provide solutions to the issues at hand. He is going to provide rice and oil to help with the feeding of the kids however this will be once every week

“Over here, there are more fishermen and I cannot promise a daily school feeding, however, next week I will bring rice and oil as the fishermen over here bring along fish. Every Friday you can cook for the children, even though we can’t do this always, we will try and do it once a week” he added.
