Creation of Savannah Region will be my greatest legacy – Akufo-Addo

The President of the republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has described the creation of the Savannah Region as his greatest legacy and called on all well meaning people of the region to do protect it.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made this statement during the 1st year anniversary celebration of the King and Overlord of the Gonjaland Traditional Council Jira Yagbonwura Bekunutu Jewu Soale I at Damongo.

Addressing the durbar of chiefs and people of the Savannah Region, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stated that he was elated to have helped in the creation of the region to propel development.

However, Akufo-Addo jist his opponents as he promises to look into the delimination of new districts in the Savannah region upon the requests from the chiefs and people.

In a speech read on his behalf, the King and Overlord of the Gonjaland Kingdom and President of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs, Jira Yagbonwura Bekunutu Jewu Soale I, taunted his achievements since assuming the skins of the kingdom a year ago.

Jira Yagbonwura Bekunutu Jewu Soale I used the opportunity to appeal to the president for the construction of higher educational institutions and reecho for the provision of potable drinking water to end the decades old water scarcity in the regional capital.

For his part, the president of the Gonjaland Youth Association disclosed the association was working around the clock in a bid to resolve all land disputes with their neighboring kingdoms through proper land demarcation systems.

Lawyer Alhaji Amin also called on the government to investigate the issuances of mining concessions to mining companies at Dollar Power without the notice of the chiefs and people of the Bole Traditional Council.

The occasion was marked the theme: ‘Celebrating Our Culture And Tradition Through Unity For Rapid Socio Economic Development In Gonjaland’.
