Don’t fall prey to results upgrade scams – WAEC cautions 2022 WASSCE candidates

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has warned the 2022 West African Senior School Certification Examination (WASSCE) candidates who failed against being victims of the activities of scammers.

In a statement on Thursday, the Council said candidates should be on the alert and not fall prey to the activities of scammers who promise to upgrade results for a fee.

Scammers have devised a new way to trick gullible students who achieved poor West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results.

Being aware of how desperate these students become, the scammers approach them with the option of upgrading their results.

But WAEC in the statement said the “results are secured and can be authenticated using the results verification system or by downloading the WAEC QR Code.”

The Council also implored institutions to do due diligence to uncover and shame individuals carrying forge WASSCE results.

“Institutions are also urged to always verify results presented to them to expose incidents of forgery,” the statement added.
