GPRTU showers praise on Dampare

Nana Nimako Asiamah, the National Chairman of the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union (GPRTU), has praised Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the police service administration for their efforts to maintain the safety of the nation’s roads.

He said Ghana is now safer under Dampare’s direction.

On his part, Dampare asked GPRTU members to reject any assertion that police are opposed to protests.

According to him, police have always protected protestors throughout the nation’s history, and this trend will not alter.

“We are impressed with your work so much,” Asiamah said at a ceremony at the police headquarters in Accra on Tuesday. “Everyone can attest to the changes in the police service under you. Whatever we need to do to support you, we will.”

He noted that “IGP, you have made Ghana secure.”

“Now we understand why the police has become so attractive. Please don’t be tired of Ghanaians because God has given you the love of this country,” he added.

The police leadership met with a few Muslim leaders on Monday, October 23, as part of their interaction with stakeholders as the year draws to an end.
