GRA Impasse: ‘Good’ Ken Agyapong is feeling the heat of the ordinary Ghanaian businessman – Sam George

Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram constituency, Samuel Nartey George, has described his mood as happy for the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong choosing to speak out atlas after his impasse with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana programme on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, Sam George alleged that the GRA is faced with a lot of internal issues in which a lot of people and businesses are held mouth-tight, hence expressing his satisfaction for Kennedy Agyapong lashing them out.

This comes on the back of Mr. Kennedy Agyapong going hard on the GRA for intruding on his business and allegedly harassing his workers.

According to Sam George, businesses have come crashing under the Akufo-Addo government and no one has come out to vent their fury making it seem almost a norm. He blames this on the tax regime operated in Ghana which, according to him, is structured in a way to kill Ghanaian businesses.

‘’It is a difficult thing to run a business in Ghana because GRA will come after you,’’ Sam George alleged.

Mr. Nartey also alluded that a lot of surviving private businesses are suffocating under the whims of this government, having to deal with a constant slap of taxes to surviving and growing businesses, driving away investments and development.

‘’When you use tax revenue collection agencies as political tools to fight businessmen…who will come and invest in your country…who will bring investments into your country?’’

He further suggested that not even the government’s policy of the 1D1F has helped salvage the situation, adding that beneficiaries of the policy who were promised benefits such as roads, water, electricity, and tax reduction are yet to receive them.

However, he advised that the government of the day should fulfill their promises to business owners and not just vomit dead promises.

Also, he wants government not to wade into the businesses of individuals for the sake of politics.
