The Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA) has expressed its heartfelt gratitude to the President Akufo-Addo-led government for including traders as beneficiaries of the affordable housing scheme.

The affordable housing scheme forms part of the government’s initiative to bridge the country’s huge housing deficit by building houses to mortgage to low and middle-income earners in the country.

According to GUTA, given the serious housing deficit in the country, they welcome this opportunity as an easier means for its members to own houses.

In a statement released by GUTA, the traders association further extended “its appreciation to the banks and the estate developers for expressing their preparedness to partner and effectively collaborate with us to help traders to purchase the houses and make the scheme a great success.”

GUTA, however, humbly appealed to the government to extend the project to other regions of the country to enable traders in those parts of the country to also benefit from what they describe as a laudable scheme.
