I have not lobbied to be Bawumia’s running mate – Joe Wise

The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu, says he has made no attempts to partner with the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the 2024 elections, although he said he has been approached for the job.

Mr. Osei Owusu said he wants to “help Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to serve Ghana and execute all the good plans he has for the country.”

Speaking on Original TV’s Hot Seat on Sunday, he refuted claims his disinterest in the position is an indication the governing NPP isn’t marketable and capable of breaking the eight.

He described Dr. Bawumia as the “right man for the job” stressing on his youthfulness, ideas, visions, and caliber of person. He noted that all these traits are evidence that nobody can be compared to him in the process of choosing a leader.

He indicated that the NPP flagbearer’s presentation at UPSA in Accra threw light on practical solutions that can help the country and the citizens therefore he’s the right person to restore the country’s economy.

Retiring from Parliament at the end of the 8th Parliament and disinterested in the running mate slot, Joe Wise said “I am 63 years old and I have invested all my days schooling and working thus this is the period to spend quality time with my family.”
