IGP is the mastermind behind the leaked audio – COP George Mensah

Commissioner of Police, George Mensah has asked the Ad-Hoc Committee tasked to probe the matter of a leaked audio to invite the IGP for questioning.

He accused Dr. George Akuffo Dampare as the one behind the leaked tape and could furnish the committee with the full recordings.

While appearing before the committee on Thursday, August 31, COP George Alex Mensah said the audio currently before the parliamentary committee is heavily doctored.

In response to the whereabouts of the supposed original copy of the audio, he asked the 7-member committee to contact Dr. Dampare for it.

“My intel suggests that what was used to tape the conversation was done by the current IGP. He sent some people to do it and after which he went for it and so the tape, from my intel is with the IGP, and he caused it to be leaked and so if this committee wants the tape, then it should contact the IGP for it,” COP Mensah said.

Meanwhile, the former NPP Northern Regional Chairman, Daniel Bugri Naabu whose office the conversation was held has said he hired a third party to record the conversation.

Appearing before the Parliamentary Ad-Hoc Committee investigating the leaked audio on Monday, Bugri Naabu said “I didn’t do it myself but I requested somebody who knows how to do the recording to come and do it for me. I didn’t use a phone I went to the mall and got this ordinary tape.”

Mr Naabu explained that he recorded the conversation with the three high-ranking police officers because of how crucial the issues being discussed were and also to have evidence to present to the president.
