John Kumah’s death: NPP supporters in Tamale demand investigation into alleged poisoning

Some supporters and constituency executives of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Northern Region are demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged poisoning leading to the death of Dr. John Kumah, the former Deputy Finance Minister.

Addressing the media, the group called on the party and the Inspector General of Police to investigate thoroughly into circumstances leading to the death of the former MP for Ejisu.

The NPP executives also expressed their deepest condolences to the family of the late Deputy Finance Minister John Kumah.

After the untimely demise of the late Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for EJisu Constituency, Dr. John Kumah, several narratives of how he and Bernard Antwi-Bosiako known commonly as Chairman Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman were poisoned in Tamale have emerged.

These narratives have not gone down well with many people in the Northern Region, especially NPP supporters, who are demanding a full-scale probe into the matter to reveal the real perpetrators of this heinous crime

Furthermore, they have demanded that Chairman Wontumi, the only surviving victim of the alleged poisoning, spill the tea, stressing that this allegation is hurting the reputation of the good people of the Northern region, especially NPP supporters.

My husband didn’t die from food poisoning

Meanwhile, the widow of John Kumah, the late deputy Finance Minister has emphatically stated that her husband did not die from food poisoning, contrary to circulating reports in sections of mainstream media and social media.

Instead, she clarified that he courageously battled a severe illness for over a year.

Apostle Lilian Kumah said her late husband had been battling with a terminal disease for nearly a year now since it was discovered by his doctors in Germany and that is what her husband succumbed to on Thursday, 7 March 2024, and not food poisoning.
