John Mahama promises to review 10% tax on sports betting if elected president

Ghanaians should anticipate a review of betting taxes during the next administration, according to former president John Dramani Mahama.

The law to tax lotteries and sports betting was approved by parliament in March of this year.

Most of the throngs of young people have expressed their criticism of this action.

10% of all gets from lotteries and sports betting are retained by the government as taxes.

During his Building Ghana visit, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer said, speaking to wood vendors in Techiman on Monday, November 20 he said,“ It is not just about taxes on betting, when we come to government we will look at the number of taxes imposed.”

He has been seeking opinions on how to frame the people’s manifesto by meeting with market vendors, students, traditional leaders, and artisans.
