KK Kabobo passes away

Veteran Highlife musician Kwabena Kwakye Kabobo, more commonly called KK Kabobo, has died following a struggle with liver disease.

He succumbed to the disease at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on Thursday, March 14, 2924.

He reportedly died upon arrival.

KK Kabobo dominated media headlines a few weeks ago when a fundraising campaign was set up to cater for his medical expenses.

The fund received donations from former president and flagbearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Mahama, Second Lady Samira Bawumia, popular singer Wendy Shay, and the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO).

KK Kabobo was a member of the Professional Musicians Association of Ghana (PROMAG) and served as a copyright management team board member.

He became a household name with his hit song “Onyame Ahu” and established his first band, Explosive Jets, in 1978.

KK Kabobo was a pupil teacher for two years before venturing into music.

The legendary Highlife singer is survived by 16 children and had 5 baby mamas.
