Leicester City Sign Ghanaian Youngster, Nathan Opoku From Syracuse University On Deadline Day

English Premier League outfit, Leicester City have completed the signing of Ghanaian forward, Nathan Opoku from Syracuse University, USA on deadline day, the club confirms.

The 21-year-old sophomore is set to be loaned out to Belgian top-flight club OHL Leuven after signing his contract with the Premier League Club on a 3-year deal.

A native of Accra, Ghana, Nathan Opoku was majoring a degree in Communications and Rhetorical Studies whiles representing his school in the 2022 NCAA Division Soccer Tournament, where a series of stellar performances attracted eyeballs from some top European scouts.

Before signing for Syracuse University, Nathan played with the NAIA program Lindsay Wilson College, where he scored 19 goals in 19 matches for his former side.

Named the most outstanding offensive player in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) division for the 2022 season, the US-based player finished the campaign with 11 goals and 9 assists for his team.

The forward had a stint at the Manchester City academy before moving to the United States.

In his farewell message ahead of his return to Europe, Opoku said, “I am excited to announce that I am making the transition to professional soccer.

“Syracuse University welcomed me into their family, and my time here was nothing short of beautiful. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to grow as a player.”
