A government spokesperson, Eric Amoako Twum has risen to the defense of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the heat of the ongoing NPP presidential primaries campaign.

In his defense, the spokesperson claims he has seen aspirants who are campaigning diligently without any casting of aspersions in the course of their campaign.

When faced with the issue of the Vice President being dishonest and throwing jabs just like his fellow aspirants, he asserted, “You have to pitch your credentials. In the quest to pitch your credentials, there are certain things that you might say that might rub the people off the wrong way.”

“All these persons who are taking the moral high ground in times past have said other things.”

However, he included that “When certain categorical statements are made, it doesn’t order well for the brand NPP itself and the government. The party should remind the aspirants who have gone full jaguar of their responsibilities to the party and also, responsibility to the state. sort of wild allegation.”

These comments were made by the NPP spokesperson during his appearance on the Good Morning Ghana Show on Metro TV on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.
