Manaf Ibrahim defeats Ashanti MASLOC chief in NPP primary in Asawase

Former head of political affairs for the Vice President’s office, Manaf Ibrahim, has been elected to the Ashanti Region’s Asawase Constituency as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate.

Manaf defeated his primary opponent, Hajia Zainab Sallow, the Ashanti regional director of the Micro-Finance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC), with 765 of the total votes cast.

She received 229 ballots.

Manaf’s uncle Osman Yussif got just nine votes, placing third in what seemed to be a family race.

The NDC’s safest seat in the governing party’s stronghold is Asawase.
