Members of Parliament stunned by the passing of colleague John Kumah

In a somber atmosphere, Members of Parliament were left reeling upon hearing the tragic news of the passing of their esteemed colleague, John Kumah, MP for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region.

Shock and disbelief filled the chamber as the news of the Ejisu legislator and Deputy Finance Minister’s demise spread, with many MPs visibly expressing profound sadness.

In a show of respect and mourning, parliamentary proceedings were immediately suspended by the Speaker Alban Bagbin following the announcement of Mr. Kumah’s passing, as colleagues grapple with the loss of a dedicated public servant, highlighting his contributions to the legislative body and his commitment to serving the people of his constituency and Ghana at large.

The sudden loss of John Kumah has left a void in Parliament, as members come to terms with the tragic news and unite in honoring his memory.

A lawyer and entrepreneur with over 15 years of experience, Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah was the Member of Parliament for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region. He was also creative, innovative, and resourceful when it came to helping youth development and creating jobs.

Kumah was a founding member and managing partner of the legal business Aduaprokye Chambers before entering the government service. In addition, he was the creator of Majak Associates Ltd., a construction and building firm.

John Ampontuah Kumah graduated from the Swiss Business School in Switzerland in November 2020 with a doctorate in business innovation. He graduated from the same business school in 2019 with a master’s degree in applied business research before that.

He was married to Apostle Lilian Kumah and their union was blessed with six children.
