After suspending its zone bundle data offers for weeks, telecommunication giant, MTN has announced that it will restore the offers on Friday, May 5, 2023.
Scancom PLC, the mother company that owns MTN suspended the data offers in accordance with the Significant Market Power (SMP) directives of the industry regulator. MTN Ghana was declared SMP in 2022.
As part of regulations, the SMP cannot have the lowest-priced data offer in the industry hence the suspension.
The suspension brought a lot of agitation among the customers of MTN calling for its restoration.
After deliberation with the industry regulator, MTN Ghana has announced that it will restore the zone bundle offer coming Friday.
However, it added that the prices of the offers will be adjusted upwards.
In an SMS to customers of the bundle offers, MTN Ghana said, “Dear Valued Customer, kindly be informed that effective May, 5th, 2023, Data Zone bundles will be available to you with revised offers.”
The Data Zone bundle is an innovation by MTN Ghana that gives customers a one-day validity bundle at discounted rates at the point of purchase, with a subscription available through the shortcode 135.
