My late husband loved me at first sight – Nana Ampadu’s wife

Obaapanin Boatemah, the wife of late Highlife legend, Nana Kwame Ampadu has intimated that their relationship was love at first sight.

According to her, the ‘Obra’ composer expressed interest in her when their path first crossed at a music recording studio in Adabraka.

“I sent my music to the studio and that is where we met. The moment he saw me, he asked ‘where can I meet your father for your hand in marriage?’ That very instant we met,” she said.

However, she thought the celebrated singer was kidding.

Sitting down with Ohene Nana Kwame Osei on Owuo Mpaso on Original 91.9 FM on Saturday, February 26, 2023, Obaaapanin Boatemah mentioned that she and Nana Ampadu stayed 16 years together until death laid its icy hands on him.

“We were together for 16 years. I was going to work on my music when we met in Studio 542 in Adabraka. He normally hangs in there with the studio technician,” she stated

The musician, christened Patrick Nana Ampadu immediately asked her to stop, put the music on hold, and go to where he could meet her father to ask her hand in marriage.

“When he saw me, he just asked me to stop, put the music aside, and asked where could he meet my father to ask for my hand in marriage. He really helped me get my first song recorded, he coached me,” she recalled.
