NDC’s Beatrice Annan slams Akufo-Addo over his ‘don’t vote for Mahama to destroy my legacy’ comments

A member of the National Communication Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Beatrice Annan, has fired back at President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo over his assertion that the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, will destroy his legacies if elected.

According to her, President Akufo-Addo has lost touch with reality and he is unaware of the struggles that many Ghanaians were going through. She argued that the president’s seven years in office have been characterised by appalling performance and stressed that he ignores the severity of the nation’s problems.

“I think President Nana Addo has lost touch with the people, he cannot certainly associate with the plight of many who are going through excruciating hardship”

“President Nana Addo does not appreciate how abysmal Ghanaians have been and how abysmal he has performed for these seven years”

President Akufo-Addo, speaking at a rally in Doboro on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, called on Ghanaians to reject his predecessor John Dramani Mahama, adding that a vote the former president would only stall the progress his administration has made.

But Beatrice Annan dismissed Akufo-Addo’s claims, saying the only legacy the president is living is that of his family and friends’ government.

“This is a government that has over 61 appointees who are family and friends. So, if it’s a legacy of family and friends, then yes, John Dramani Mahama will destroy that legacy.”

She also highlighted various corruption scandals that happened under the watch of the president, including the PDS scandal and what she described as state capture.

“If it’s a legacy of create, loot, and share, like we saw in the PDS scandal, like we saw in SML, and many of the numerous corruption scandals, then that legacy, John Mahama will destroy it.”

The NDC National Communication Team Member noted that Akufo-Addo will down in history as the worst president in the history of Ghana, if not the fourth republic.

She criticized the president and the NPP for their obsession with the former president saying “If you check their campaign, everything is about Mahama. They have been bequeathed with a lot of resources by the former president, but the Nana Addo/Bawumia government has destroyed everything”

She expressed fears that if the NPP is given another term, the party will continue to dissipate the meagre resources of the country.

“Our fear is that we don’t want this government to continue to be in power for 12 years to continue to dissipate everything,” Beatrice Annan told Shadrack Odame on Metro TV.
