‘I won’t protect your corrupt legacy‘ – Mahama fires back at Akufo-Addo

John Dramani Mahama has launched a scathing attack on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, accusing him of presiding over a legacy of corruption, misgovernance, and economic woes.

Mahama, who is the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in a Facebook post said he would not protect Akufo-Addo’s “legacy” of “corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and pushing more of our people into the poverty bracket.”

Mahama’s comments come in response to Akufo-Addo’s recent remarks, in which he urged Ghanaians not to vote for Mahama in the December 7, 2024, general elections, warning that a Mahama presidency would destroy his legacy.

While addressing a mini rally in Doboro, Eastern Region, President Akufo-Addo urged supporters to back Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the ideal candidate for president, shortly after touring Blue Skies Limited.

The exchange marks an escalation in the political tensions between the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition NDC, ahead of the crucial polls.
