The National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate for 2024, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, has announced that the party will launch a National Apprenticeship Training Program to provide free skill development to junior high school graduates who were unable to continue on to senior high school.

Under the skills training module, the apprentices’ trainer would receive payment from the government, via the District Assembly, for the duration of the training session.

Additionally, the government would give them business start-up kits so they could launch their ventures and achieve financial independence.

On the first day of a two-day “Building Ghana Tour” in the Western Region, the former president was giving a speech at a town hall meeting attended by the chiefs and people of Ellembelle at Ambainu.

Alongside him was Dr. George Sipa-Adja Yankey, a former chief of staff and CEO of Ghana Gas, as well as Ellembelle’s Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the NDC’s Western Regional Chairman, Nana Roku.

The others were Mr. Julius Debra, the Jomoro MP; Madam Dorcas Afo-Toffey, the Evaloe-Adjomoro Gwira MP; Mr. Kofi Arko NoKoe; Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, the Essikado-Ketan Constituency’s 2024 parliamentary candidate; and Mr. Kirk Mensah, the NDC regional secretary.

The NDC party would be able to rewrite the 2020 manifesto by incorporating the opinions, suggestions, and goals of Ghanaians and stakeholders through the Building Ghana Tour, “after seven years since NDC left power, look at our roads from Takoradi to Agona-Nkwanta, the road from Samenye to Half-Assini, from Teleku-Bokazo to Awiebo and Teleku-Bokazo to Salema.”

The MP said, “everything has fallen apart and that is why the people are crying for you to continue from where you left off.”
