A Spokesperson of the Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Campaign Team’s, Dr. Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama has debunked allegations that the Vice President’s campaign is being sponsored by an Islamic extremist group.
Dr. Karibu Mahama speaking to Bridget Otoo on News Night on Metro TV on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, noted that has no credibility to be taken seriously.
According to him, at the appropriate time, the Team will divulge persons or organizations funding the campaign.
“The Team will communicate who is funding and I have mentioned it on several platforms. The Campaign of Dr. Bawumia is going to be very transparent. We deal with processes and structure… we have not even unveiled our funding strategy and the funding strategy of the campaign is coming along with the complete package of how we intend the finance the full campaign,” he said.
On July 16, 2023, David Hundenyin, a Nigerian Journalsit took to his Twitter page and alleged that ACF (Awera Consultative Forum) is funding Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 Election which is in contrast with the laws of the land.
The tweet prompted a wave of criticisms with many demanding the Second Gentleman of the Land to come clean on the issue.
A leading member of the NDC communications team, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, called on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to be transparent concerning the funding of his campaign.
Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Felix Kwakye Ofosu noted that the accusation can have damaging implications on the Vice President and his campaign if not addressed on time.
