By 2025 we would be out of this economic crisis — Dr. Okoe Boye

CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Okoe Boye says he is happy about the turn of events reported by the World Bank.

Dr. Okoe Boye classified the nitty gritty of the report as “good news to Ghanaians” hence, he is of the view that everything will be fine.

“There is good news. The World Bank says that the economy is bouncing back to pre-pandemic levels and by 2025, everything will be fine,” he narrated on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana hosted by Dr. Randy Abbey when he appeared as a panelist with Sammy Gyamfi.

This statement, however, did not go down well with the NDC National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi.

“By 2025, will we have gotten out of the unsustainable crisis that they have plunged Ghana into?” The Communications Director quizzed Dr. Okoe Boye.

To Sammy Gyamfi, such assurances are baseless as the reality is far from that.

“When our friends in the NPP talk like this, they add insult to injury and worsen the trauma, pain, and agony that Ghanaians are already reeling under, due to the untold and unprecedented hardships that they through their recklessness and ineptitude have imposed on the people of the country.”

Meanwhile, a report released by the World Bank has revealed that high inflation rates in 2022 pushed an overwhelming 850,000 Ghanaians into poverty.

The report indicated that the severe economic crisis in 2022 characterized by soaring inflation rates had devastating consequences on food security and poverty in the country.
